Settings with an 8600GT

I will be getting this card in a couple of days:

Right now I have a crap x300 SE

I was wondering what the highest settings I could play with this card. I've heard many times that this card is equivalent to the 7900 or a little better. Anyway, any thoughts. Is it possible to have medium/high settings with at least 2x AA?

first of all whats the rest of your specs? if you have a decent CPU and memory it should handle all high at a 1280X1024 res, but whats the CPU you own and how much ram do you have?

Intel P4 3.4ghz
1GB DDR2 RAM

ok with that system all medium one or 2 things on high 2XAA, and a decent res of 1280x1024

I am planning on getting another GB of ram of ebay for $40 :) here in a couple of weeks. How good could it possibly then?

well i wud say all high mate :) i have a 7900, 2 gigs of ram, and a 4200+ and it plays all high at a 1400X1050 res and i get 50-100+ FPS :)

thanks, this ATI x300 is the worst! I take it this new card will be a HUGE upgrade, at least from my x300.

try playing on a 5500 fx!i used to.

I play on medium/low with dynamic shadows off. And at a sucky resolution of... 1024x768. It gets a decent framerate at about 20fps, im guessing, until a intense firefight.
