    PSU Problem

So i went to switch on my pc last night and nothing happened!

I opened up the case saw the green led glowing in the bottom of the case so it was definately getting power and my monitor was still working so im guessing that my PSU has broke?

I'm now looking for a new one and i reckon i need atleast 700-750watt PSU.

im running an SLI systems with 2 7800GTX's

    What would you guys recommend?

    Re: PSU Problem

What makes you think the psu has failed?

If power is getting into the monitor and the led is glowing the PSU is working matey, how else is the power getting through?

It could be anything that is at fault!

You say the led on the case, do you mean on the motherboard? if so you can also rule out that it is not the psu & mobo.

Have you installed any other new hardware lately?

      Re: PSU Problem

      Thanks for replying so quickly.

Yeh sorry i ment the led on the motherboard.

The only reason I'm thinkin it is the PSU is i kept getting messages saying that the system was reducing it's performance because there was not enough power. There was also a burning smell coming from the fan area (not sure if this is normal)

I had a look at the system manual and it said that if the green led light is still showing it is likely that it is a problem with the powerswitch/PSU?

you dont need more than 600w for that setup - just don't get a crap one, get a quality one with lots of amps
