    motherboard?

    im going to buy a new mobo. i know that you have to install windows agian but my pc never came with a CD. its on the hard drive in a recovery thing. do i need a CD with windows on it?

    I'm not sure about the recovery thing on your hard drive, but you could probably borrow a cd from a freind and use that to reinstall xp. Make sure you have your own product key though.

        It's do-able. You'd most likely need to call MS and tell them you've replaced a fried motherboard in order to get a secondary activation code.

            Actually, I'm pretty sure its 30 days.

            As for them trusting you, I've called them so many times to get an activation key, and they still keep giving me new ones. So, if it's your first time, you should be fine.
