    Online Resolution

What kind of specs should i be able to run on line to servers in UK where i am playing. Reason i asked is because of connection problems when trying at hi-res.

Can someone with similar specs let me know what they are able to play with ease at ?

My rig is a 5600 Athlon X2 , 4 gig , 8800 GTX and XFX sound card, off line it handles everything at max no problem , but online I can't seem to get over 1024 without "connection problems" whihc end up in being booted due to lag ?

    Thanks,

that rig is overkill for BF2,

if by online lag you mean your ping is getting high and getting you kicked from servers,,

    update Punkbuster; http://www.punkbuster.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php

if it doesnt solve it, it could be your ISP

Thanks for the punkbuster tip .... the lag kicks in a few minutes into the game and then I am booted , but its not like graphics lag or a blip ...its major connection then goodbye , until i drop it to basic effects etc.

You may need to ring your ISP and see if they have not blocked the ports to be able to access BF2. The ports are listed in the manual of BF2.

PS why the fek did u get 4GB of RAM? Thats just stupid!

Checked the ports and all is fine there , got the 4 gig of ram because its needed for other uses as well as BF2.

              Thanks,
check this faq for lag, disconnects, and dual core problems:

you may also want to check out Qtracker to search for bf2 servers instead of the in-game browser. with qtracker you can sort by ping, average ping, and server response which is sometimes more important than ping. the link is in my sig.

From a PM the OP just sent me

"Hi , hope you dont mind the PM , just wnating to check what you mean about the bottleneck issue?

Why would the card and chip cause this ?

Are a 8800 GTX and a Athlon 5600 x2 not compatible, help appreciated

                Thanks,"

They are compatible, but the CPU will hold that card back SO much, that dropping a 880GTS would give you the same FPS
