Monitor Keeps on turning off

My dad was having this problem with his tft pc screen, it only stays on for about 5 seconds, then it goes black, but the little green led on it shows it as still on. Anyway my dad went and bought a new monitor, so I got it. I thought it might be a problem with the cable connecting it to the pc, but thats fixed onto the back of the monitor so i cant take it out. When you turn it on and turn it off again, it does the same thing, this also happened when I first enabled it with my gfx card (its in a dual monitor setup)

Any help would be much appreciated :)

The obvious question is are you certain it is being sent a signal?
When it turns on does it display a picture before turning off?
Is the desktop resolution compatable with the monitor?
What refresh rate is the desktop set to?
Is there a specific driver available for the monitor?

When it turns on does it display a picture before turning off?Yes, it shows the logo on startup and when I turn it on in Dual screen i can see the desktop

What refresh rate is the desktop set to? How can I check this?
Is there a specific driver available for the monitor?Not sure, but remember it wont run with two pc's.

Also where do I get drivers for it?
