This isnt a tech problem but this seems to be the closest place. I would apreciate it if people would rate this build and find what you think is a problem. I am not moving on the case, I dont mind the price for it or the psu location. With the OS, it will be Vista Ultimate 64, or Home Premeum 64 if I have to cut back a little:cry:.

A little cheaper, no stupid window, and will last twice as long as the windowed version.

GPU: Great, but I need to know what kind of monitor you have.

Ram: Overpriced for what you get, this ram is better

Cheaper, uses the exact same memory modules as the dominators (will oc just the same).

Optical drive: fine, it'll work

PSU: Not really that great, get this one:

A little more expensive, but is actually more powerful than the ocz unit, can handle dual 8800gtx's fine, and is of a much higher quality.

Edit: Almost forgot, you don't need a wireless card, the mobo has one built in (works great, I'm using it right now).

Really? I have almost no exp w/ Networking stuff. All I have done is set up a router, that card in my bros comp, and config the adapter conection.

I have vios, does it mater?

Fios? I see no reason why it would matter what kind of connection you have.

It works fine, just screw in the little antenna, install the drivers, and configure it like you would a normal wireless card.

It's faster, but 150gb doesn't really go that far these days. If you do go with the raptor, buy a larger drive to store all your pics, movies and other crap.

10k drive and a larger 7200rpm would be the perfect combination (:p)

500gb, is actually very fast, and comes with the same 5 year warranty as the raptor.

Its cheap. Ill upgrade some time in the future. I saw a SCEPTER for cheaper and had a 1:1000 ratio. Duno if I want it tho.

just a couple questions...

On the motherboard, is it the WiFi you are particularly interested in? Its not SLI ready, which, down the road, will be a nice advantage. I just bought a Asus P5N32-E SLI 680i, for near the same money, and I have to say to at least check it out. If your at all into overclocking, this board makes it very easy ...comes with 'Extreme Tweaker' in the bios. You picked a SLI ready psu, so it makes sense to follow that line with the motherboard, and ram. Look at the Patriot 2x2gig (4 total), it is very, very good.. a little more money, but you have 4 gigs, and still end up with 2 empty slots.

Also, I am using the onboard sound for that board, and I think its great ...glad I didnt spend the money on a sound card. Love the case. I looked at those 10000 rpm HardDrives, and decided for how expensive they are, wasnt worth a couple faster milliseconds. I chose a Seagate Barracuda, at 7200 rpm, but with 16megs cache, which should about make that up.

Fun building a new rig ....enjoy :-)

1. Sli is not necessary, and I doubt he's going to buy a second card when the first is still complete overkill for his monitor.

2. Sli psu is just a marketing term, there is no reason to get an sli mobo just because your psu has that sticker.

3. 4gb is overkill, and completely not necessary for this computer. Stick with the 2gb kit, thats all you need.

4. Onboard sound is fine on both mobo's, but an x-fi would be a major improvement.

5. Yes, a 7200rpm drive will almost be as fast the raptor, but if he really wants one getting it and the larger secondary drive is a better bet.

I've got an earlier p180 (doesn't have the glossy surface, had a silly gpu exhaust port). I like it, but it can be a pain in the cache to wire stuff because you have to wire up from the bottom. I ran my 4-pin CPU-PWR connector under a slot in the GPU, for instance, but there isn't much you can do except drag the MOTHERBOARD-PWR across where ever it will go, depending on the length.

You wouldn't think so by looking at it (the thing is a size MONSTER) but working in the top portion also involves some tricky wiring because everything is jam packed together. I had to move a hard drive in order to get a PCI-E cable plugged in comfortably.

If you've got enough patience and are willing to take the install pretty slowly, you'll get a very quiet, very cold, very LARGE tower.

@OP--if you're going for a quiet computer (just a wild guess because of the case you picked), shoving a loud 10,000k rpm hard drive in the front isn't going to get you there. Besides that, you could get two good 7200rpm 160gb hard drives in RAID0, get almost the same performance of a raptor, and back that data up to a generic 320gb hd in RAID1 on the fly for the price of the retail raptor, and just a little more than the OEM. It would be quieter, too. Your money, though. :)

Wait for the psu then, I just don't trust ocz that much anymore. Besides, when it comes to psu's 1 rail is way better than 4.

Also, raid 0 is a bad idea, you get almost no beneficial speed boost and it doubles your chance of data faliure.

With tho Mobo, I dont plan to SLI unless I buy 2 big res monitors, which will be very expensive ><. So going witht the big fatty card will be beter for me.

With the WiFi, I didnt even realise this would work for me =P. This will save me $100.

I dont plan on over clocking because I have never done it before. Maybe I will learn more about it. I just wory about mesing up my pieces.

Should I stick with the ASUS P5W DH DELUXE?

Ok, its always a guess as to what someone else it looking for. For me, I always want to look to the future. Thats the thing about computers, whats good today, is bottom-of-the-barrel tomorrow. I had a Nvidia Geforce 6400, and when I bought it, it would run anything. Then I bought BF2 and it wouldnt even start it. What I see as the biggest thing about the two boards, is expandiblity. Maybe those things are not as important now, but ask the question, when do you think will be the next time its time to upgrade? Some things that are not important now, will be in 3 months, six months, or next year. Having a motherboard that can do that is important. That Asus board (same price as the P5W) is ready for a 1333GHZ FSB, and the CPUs aren't even available yet. That to me is looking into the future.
