I need a litle info on core 2 duo

    well I order a Intel Core 2 Duo (Conroe) E6320 1860MHz S775 4MB Box
    and ddr 2G 800Mhz
I am looking .. is it to low on MHz .. becose I heard that BF2 runs only on one cpu ... is there some solution to run both cpu

and when the new "generation" of BF comes .. would it be on both cpu-s

    thnx from n00b:)

    1.) BF2 is single threaded

2.) That E6320 on stock speeds will demolish most CPUs out there, the only competition it has are the Conroe cores on higher clock rates, and of course, the quad cores.

3.) Doubt there's a next gen of BF2 but it'll have to be multi-threaded to keep up.

Even at stock it's more than enough for BF2. You need will need a 8800 to seen any difference between E6320 and some faster models. I have Radeon 1950 Pro and CPU at 1.8 or cpu at 3.3 makes no real difference in fps. Loading times are shorter though.

yeah BF2 does not support dual-core my 4200+x2 runs no different compared to my 3400+ but its always good to have for future games

force BF2 to only use 1 core. Tell me if it runs any different for ya

oh did you do it? because on many of the athlon x2s the game won't run very smooth yet you will still get high frame rates. Every time I ran the game i set affinity to just one core. On an intel core 2 duo it won't make a difference.

Open the task mananger, go to the bf2 process (something like bf2.exe), right click it, select affinity, and uncheck one of the boxes. Bf2 has to be running, otherwise you won't see the process.

That's odd, but I don't think it's anything to do with the CPU.

If you were comparing physical dual-cores to single cores, the dual core would perform better because BF2 could have a core to itself, but we're comparing locking BF2 to one core, and allowing BF2 to lock itself to one core...

I've also noticed no difference running BF2 on core0 or core1 by itself, or together.

I am using the latest CPU driver, v4 of the MS hotfix, and the AMD Dual Core Optimizer though...so it(setting affinity) might only help those with some or none of the drivers I mentioned above.

I never tried my dual core w/o the drivers mentioned so I have nothing to compare my results to.

it could have just been my and a friend who had the same motherboard's setup.
