you would tihnk a 5+ year old processor would be cheap but i guess its no where to be found i saw prices of $170+ us. what i should have said was that i really dont trust a used cpu who knows wat kind of a beating it took.Comment

Thats true, but most (as in 99.9%
retail stores don't carry them any more, since they are so old. As those processors get rarer and rarer you may have to pay a bit more for them.

used to run a barton. That was a great processor. I think they changed the name of the XPs to another line, but its the same shizit. I believe it was the Sempron socket A. heres a website that has a limited number of socket A chips. http://www.nextag.com/amd-socket-a/search-html
They can be on par with most of the P4s. (better than most actually). Thats why I was an intel basher for the longest time. That has certainly changed as I'm on an intel.Comment

do u guys think that it would be a good choice to upgrade a 1800 xp to lets say a 2800 xp or better? cause the 2800 are around $150 and i can overclock them if need be.Comment
