I just got my new power supply, and it is supposed to be a real quiet one, but the fan gives off a constant high pitched noise. I dont think that it is supposed to be as loud as it is. Is there anything I can do to the fan to make it quieter? Or buy a different fan and swap it out?
im not sure if i can rma it, since ive already sent in the rebate for it.
and i dont think replacing the fan would be really considered opening it. Its just a big 120mm fan on the bottom that is held in by some screws. But i dont really want to mess with it so idk.
problem with replacing fan is that you'll most likely have to solder the new leads. now, if you've got the patience/tools/willingness to do that, no problem.
otherwise, i'd call up your supplier and let them know that the part you just bought is starting to malfunction. just make sure to tell them you've already mailed the rebate to cya. they won't want to refund your money, but they should be ok with a part-for-part swappola.
edit, at the very least, this would be a warranty repair from flogtron.
