1280x1024 Output from widescreen laptop

So, I have a problem. I need to do a presentation tomorrow, and when I do that presentation, I want to have it on my laptop screen + a projector. But, my laptop is widescreen, and when I try to put it on a 4x3 monitor, it wont allow me to keep my laptop widescreen but also have the monitor in 4x3 mode. Its either make the monitor all messed up by putting it in 1280x768 or make my laptop messed up by putting it in 1280x1024, which make me have to scroll around the screen.


So, is there a way for me to have my laptop set to 1280x768 and the projector at 1280x1024 at the same time?

Oh ,and my laptop is a gateway 3522gz

go right click on ur desktop > Propertise > go to the settings tab > select monitor 2 which should be the projector > Tick the box saying extened my desktop to this monitor > sets its resolution and your wallpaper should appear in the projector with all the monitors correct res.

To ge MS powerpoint to display on the projector go to slide show> set up show> and set the output monitor to the 2nd monitor. There should be a box you can tick underneath which can give you all the controls on the laptop.

I think your trying to duplicated the monitor and that is what is wrong you need to extend the desktop for this to work. Im sorry if this is abit sketchy im doing it all from memory.

yea, but I would have wanted it so i could also see it on the laptop screen also.

Anyways, i went today, and it just so happened that their projector's resolution was 1280x768, so it all worked out fine :)
