I'm in the process of buying a new monitor, and i can't decide between widescreen or normal for a 19" - does BF2 support widescreen?

bf2 does support widescreen, but you do have to go to a bit more trouble to get it to work. like chamging something in the display folders or sumtink. -

Bf2 supports stretching the screen, its not proper widescreen but it works, certainly i would have thought the monitor will out last your enjoyment of BF2 so i wouldnt base a purchase around it.
Getting BF2 to do widescreen resoultions just requires a couple of additions to the shortcut you use to start the game, there is a complete long massive huge thread about it here.Comment

i have the choice of a normal 19" or a widescreen and i REALLY don't know which one to go for - could i have some opinions?

Its down to personal preference really.
I would say that widescreen is the future though, especially in an age where computers can double as dvd players etc. Generally games do support widescreen and i think look far better in w/s over normal aspect. I also find a wider rectangular desktop a more practicle work area than a square.Comment

I have a Dell ultrasharp 20.1" widescreen and it has worked fine with BF2 right out of the box!!! No major tweaks. Just have to set game to use the widescreen resolution settings (which you can find listed on your desktop settings) .....just make sure the 2 match!!! (same settings on desktop and in Bf2).

I have 1400x900 and it's not a perfect fit, but looks fine.
There is not a dedicated setting for the monitor, but the picture will stretch..Comment

I run 1440x900 My picture does not stretch at all.
