Ok, I tried searching, but this search was too broad for help...

I just upgraded my CPU, so I decided to fire up BF2 this morning (I have been glued to my 360 lately).

When I launch, it gives me the splash screen, then closes.

I un-installed BF2 and re-installed and re-patched, but am STILL having this issue.

Can anyone help?

When your computer boots, does the POST screen list the correct processor and speed? Just make sure you have all the necessary drivers. Just an opinion, but I'd save money and get a different mobo, I'm guessing you got that one as a combo deal with the processor?

Funny, I restarted and POST didn't even show a processor!! I changed the clock settings a bit, just to see, and it showed the correct processor, but I am still getting. the crash. I am going to do some investigating ebfore swapping mobos.

I actually have a new mobo I can swap in. It might make a difference.

1) did you update your BIOS before you installed the 4800+? If you didn't, that is the problem. If you did, then so far so good.

2) goto device manager, double click Computer...does it say Uniprocessor or Multiprocessor?

If it says "Uni", then Windows hasn't properly identified the CPU, which can be caused from having the wrong BIOS(see 1).
If it says "Multi" then you are still good.

3) your ram is 4x512? Do you have it running at DDR400 and 2T command rate? Or is it DDR333 @1T?

UPDATE:

All drivers and BIOS was already updated...

I noticed that for some reason, my BF@ mods folder was gone...

So, I uninstalled and re-installed AGAIN.

Works now. See you guys this weekend.
