Need a new power supply- Good brands?

Hey, I'm pretty much done with upgrading my current set up for now, but what I need is a new power supply. And, since my birthday is coming up soon, I am thinking about getting one. Currenty, I am still using my stock one that came with my emachines, and im worried its gonna blow sometime soon..

I have-

e6300
7600 GT
Usb pci card
Pci sound card
Usb wireless adapter
Logitech g15
1 hard drive
1 120mm fan, 1 80mm fan, 1 video card fan

What would be a good wattage to get for what i have, and would be future proof for upgrades?(new video card etc.)

Also, what brands should I be looking at? My price range is around 50-80, but hopefully that isnt too low for a good quality power supply.

$80 is a little on the low side, can you try to get it bumped up to 100?

I'll have to see what my parents can do with the amount of money the give me for my b-day, possibly though.

These would run the most energy intensive cards out there and on the horizon (you're sticking with single cards and not sli/crossfire, right?) along with a dual core processor and leave some room for overclocking and upping the volts as needed:

When I was a kid, I'd do some crazy chores in exchange for turning over the receipts/rebates to one of the 'rents to handle.

With PSU's it's quality>+12 rail volt/amps (aka watts)>features like active PFC, three rails v. two>warranty length and reputation of a company's customer support.

edit: reaching a little farther down the of psu's I'd trust with $1000 worth of silicon,
coolmax 500W (45W on the +12Vrail) for $62+~$10 out the door.

Poking around the net and the usual haunts, you're probably going to find that you will be able to get a really good psu, but you're going to have to catch a very good sale or be willing to mail in a rebate. That antec I linked to above has modular cabling, active pfc, 3+12V rails@18W each, and a 5 year warranty.

Oh wait--here's a nice $90 Li-Li from a company I like buying from that's probably as good as the antec, minus the modular cabling:

All of those look good, but im leaning to the first 1, because I've always heard antec is pretty good. I make my parents do the rebates all the time anyways. :)

I'll have to wait and see until the money starts coming in the mail from my relatives, and until my parents give me money, then ill know which one i can buy.

You might consider waiting on other inputs; I'm a big antec "fanboy", and I make no apologies.

Having said that, the neohe 550W looks like a great PSU. I've had a truepower I 380W that came with my sonata I powering a card (x800xt AIW) that req'd a 350W system PSU, a hot and hungry +90W prescott, 4x120mm fans, 2xoptical drives and 3xhds for three years...
...and it never let me down. I sold it on ebay for $40 with a six month guarantee four months ago and haven't heard a peep from the buyer.

I'm currently running a trio 650W in a p180 case (yeah, fanboism know no bounds...i know...) pushing a moderately overclocked x1950xt, a heavily (1ghz) o'cd pentium d 915 (i wanted to play with overclocking a cheap chip before buying quad-core, lol), 5x120mm fans, and the regular optical and 2xsata hd's and...

...all rails are rock stable. As expected, I'm not even stressing it.

Antec is a good brand and we have several floating around the group here.

However, Seasonic is now becoming our recommended brand. They are some of the most efficient PSUs on the market. Here's a link to their 500W modular version.

All power rails are rock solid with overall efficiency approaching 85%. That translate sinto a stable power source for all your components.

I agree, its a bit above your desired investment but if your PSU is not stable the rest of your system will never be.

DO NOT dismiss Seasonic so easily...they are turning out to be better in a lot of ways than Antec. We have two ex-Antec fanboys that are using Seasonics now and they love them.

Don't get me wrong. Antec is still a good brand and have been around a long time. That doesn't mean that there aren't other GOOD possibilities out there...

That said, buy what YOU want

Antec has been having quality control issues recently, so I'd avoid them if at all possible. Seasonic, Corsair, Fortron, and a few others make excellent psu's.

ive had this powersupply for more then a year now. its rock solid runs 24/7 365 with out a problem.

Don't even think about it, Raidmax makes some of the crappiest psu's around. You couldn't pay me to use that psu.
