Best for BF2? 7950GT or x1950Pro and more Q's

I am hoping to get a new video card in the next few weeks, I'm hoping to achieve max settings with just a new video card.

Currently in my rig:

Video card: Nvidia 7600GS
CPU: 2.53GHz
RAM: 2 gigs
PSU: 420W


I hear these are the best for AGP

Nvidia 7950GT AGP
Core clock 550MHz
Memory Clock 1300MHz
PixelPipelines 24
Memory Size 512MB

So which is best for BF games?

I've only used Nvidia video cards, how is ATI? Is Nvidia better suited for bf2? Does this ATI card have problems with some games? I've seen reviews stating that there are some graphical glitches with the x1950Pro. Yet I never seen a sure answer.

I'm not sure, so I'm asking here.

Also will my CPU be bottlenecking? I hope not :hmm:

OMG, they made an AGP 7950GT!

Both cards are around the same in performance with the 7950GT being a little better. There is no big difference in going with ATI or Nvidia, it whould always be about which card is better.

Your CPU will be bottlenecking the new graphics card alot. You might have trouble getting good frame rates will all high, but you would only need to turn one setting down to fix that.

I guess I should upgrade the CPU if I get one of these video cards, I hope sticking to Intel pentium 4 is an option, will 3.0GHz stop bottlenecking?

dude, take my advice and get the Nvidia, i have the X1950 pro, and i can't get the game or anything else to run properly, it's an unstable heap of (censored) so go forth and get the Nvidia

pentium 4 is pretty old now and it mite be a bottleneck buit not much cuz bf2 is more relied on the graphics card.

x1950 series (mine is an xt) is notoriously hot and loud.

if you buy one, you're going to want an aftermarket cooler, especially since the pro is a single-slot (non-venting) cooler.

Don't get me wrong, I love my card and ATI has incredible video quality. I'm trying another cooler (another $30 I might add) to keep it under 90C. Your pro won't be quite as hot though, so that's something to think about.

no i used to have a 7900 with a 3400+2.21 ghz and it played fine

A 2.2Ghz AMD64 is the equivalent of a P4 @ 3.4Ghz so that does not mean much to him.

The 3.0Ghz P4 will bottleneck it, but it will not be noticeable in BF2. It can be noticeable on newer games.

Probably around 4.0-4.2ghz.
