A KVM that doesn't effect the keyboard?

I've got a Merc gaming keyboard. I've got my main computer and a small linux box. I would love to find a KVM that worked with the two, but the ones that I have tried so far usually screw up gaming, causing keystrokes to get dropped or mangled, making it unplayable.

Has anyone found a relatively inexpensive KVM that keeps up with gaming?

KVM...Keyboard Video Mouse switch. Basically a hub that allows one keyboard mouse and video cable to operate between two computers

what type of KVM have you been using?

i did have a PS/2 one but it screwed up as i had to use USB to PS/2 converters but i havent tried the USB ones because good ones can cost quite alot.

I heard that USB ones can be quite unreliable as to which hardware works and which doesn't.

the only problem that i know of as far as USB ones go is their was a specific brand (cant remember the name) that it had issues with switching between an XP box & linux box it would cause a minor problem with the mouse (well minor being its easily solved), you move the mouse a tiny bit and it goes mental.

i got one on ebay, didnt cost to much and works fine with bf2, only problem is that double tapping control is the way you switch between computers, so it can get annoying if the other computer is on im trying to duck in a mounted mg or tank mg

you would need to find one that switches by using the scroll lock as the trigger and then theres variations such as up/down arrow key, or the number keys 1/2 etc.

Or you can set a different key bind to crouch.

I have an airlink+ and I've never had any problems with bf2. I think some OSs wont reinitialize the mouse, but I think it may be more of a problem with the OS and not the switch.

I have a Belkin 2 port (with USB) and a Linksys 2 port PS/2 (which doesn't work with the Merc, since it's USB).

The Belkin just scrambles the timing up between keystrokes, to the point you don't know where you might go or face when you touch a button.

you could try and get ahold of some USB to PS/2 converters and try the linksys one,
