Hello again everybody,
i've posted about this earlier but just to recap it - I have an old dual P4 CPU system (yes two individual p4s) that screams like someone is getting raped. Now I'm not sure exactly where the sound is coming from, as it is so high that you cannot pin point its exact location from the MOBO. I am assuming it is a CPU related issue as for the following reasons:
A) computer has not run for hours, come to boot it up. Moment the CPU sounds like it is running, the noise comes with it
B) during a benchmark test, CPU FPs drove my CPU(s) mad and the noise returned
C) more frequent lockups, freezes, deadlocks, whatever you want to call them, the system just stops in its tracks. This started ocassionally on boot ups but today has occured on the desktop right after booting up.
D) CPU usage has increased dramatically. Very slow over nothing. Then resides back to normal conditions.
E) when scrolling down a web page not to long after boot up, using the scroll wheel will cause noise
F) Yes, the noise eventually goes... 5-10 minutes none stop during boot up/after boot up and 5-10 minutes of on/off noise to follow up. Becomes longer.
G) None related to CPU but BF2 use to be unaffected. Now it screams sometimes while in BF2 stats. occassional I could swear my computer is lagging now while playing but then again, I'm also on satelite. PING changes as fast as the weather does.
Ok so there you have it, a computer destined to blow up. My question, I'm getting so F'n frustrated trying to pull out the CPU's on the MOBO and there seems to be no guide. they won't let go. Yeah i released the white things on the sides and can pull on the CPU fan/heatsink and CPUs and try to move em off, but the guards or whatever they are seem to hold a firm grip on the board still.
I've sat down for about an hour wiggiling and looking, and I stopped. I stopped because I want to go get the sledge hammer from the garage. Is this the tool I'm missing?
