where would that leave the 7300GT with half the memory bandwidth, a third of the shader power, third of the texture fill rate, a third of the pixel fill rate, etc?

One small problem the OP said nothing about a 7300GT but a 7300 Turbocache, something like this,

Personally I wouldn't touch a Turbocache card (or ATI's equivalent, Hypermemory) with a 10 foot pole.

All things considering to the OP if you can stretch your budget I wouldn't be looking at anything less than a 7600GS. While not as fast as the GT it will pretty much eat the two cards you're looking at, and at least allow you to play with most things medium with a possibility of a couple on high (dynamic shadows and lighting on low) at 1024x768 (and possibly 1280x1024 depending on the rest of the system.

I'm gonna check what mine's set too when I get home. I have a GeForce 5700 and it doesn't seem as awful as you lot are saying! Or maybe I'm just used to ****e.

More than likely. He is doing if off of something like a Dell or Compaq website, where you can only select certain items.

if you were getting a graphics card...i wouldn't spend money on either of those.
