Bypass DirectX 9.0

I just got a new computer which runs Vista. It's got all of the extras and
there's no reason Battlefield 2 can't run on it.

As I understand it, Vista comes with DirectX 10.0.

When I try to install Battlefield 2, it wants to install DirectX 9.0c.

1. I really don't want it to install V 9.0c, do I?

2. Is there anyway to complete installation without installing V 9.0C.

3. Are there any other installs I need to complete?

I'm pretty sure you can opt to cancel installation of DirectX 9.0c and still complete installation right? It says it's [DX9] not detected and won't let you continue?

No, you can't bypass direct 9.0c installation. Even if you try to do a
custom install, it doesn't give it as an option.

I'd really like to try it, but I don't see any way around it.

Install dx9, there won't be a problem with it.

9.0c is the latest. If you've got it installed, great. If a program wants to reinstall it, no harm done. Go ahead.

no its not, DX10 is the latest, but it's only on Vista

It doesn't matter, because the timestamps on the DX10 files are later than the ones on the DX9 files, so nothing will be written.

Just go for the install, only newer stuff will be written, which will be nothing, then you will get the "Installation Complete" type message.

bf2 doesnt use dx10, so therefore, u need dx9
