Suggestion with Upgrade.

Hi Guys. I frustrated with my crap FPS am getting when playing BF2 and DCON. I mod. I get like a average of 25FPS, vary from 20 -40 FPS depending what map am on. So I have $394 - £200 budget to upgrade my comp in my sig. And am not going to buy a GFX card so please don't include that as a suggestion. Should I go Intel or Get more RAM and how do I know what type or RAM works on my comp and if it will work? I think its DDR2.
Basically what should I get to improve FPS with the budget I have. Also link me up with decent sales site in the UK.

Double your ram, if i'm not mistaken your board is a 939 pin and should take ddr ram. pc3200 should do you nicely. You should see a huge increase in performance with 2 gigs of ram.

Yea I just checked I have Kingston PC3200 1GB ram currently. Anyway any idea how much fps better it will be? And if i would need more Watts/Voltage or should I worry about that?

ps. its 184- pin DDR DIMM slots

EDIT : It does support 2GB Ram :)

BF2 is a very ram hungry game so double you ram and you should notice a good difference, the graphics card is perfectly fine, i dont know much about AMD but as dar as im awear you should have no prob with the processor too

How do I know if my Motherboard is LOW or HIGH Density RAM? Doesn't say anything in the manual.

I've got a set of perfectly good pc3200 512mb's I'll sell you for half the price (double the shipping unfortunately) that those...whats the word...oh..."blokes"...are offering. :)

More RAM is your friend with BF2. Increases loading times, smooths fps, etc.

Having said that, I went from an ancient (but very nice) socket 478 system to a very nice dual core system for about $400 after the rest of my stuff goes on ebay.

Were I you, I'd save for a complete upgrade...

...But I'm not. More RAM = More Happy.

RAM won't increase FPS whatsoever, it'll smoothen it out though.

You need a graphics card upgrade. That's what is holding you back. Be as close-minded as you like, you need an upgrade.

Of course, when you get more money, I'd say upgrade CPU & Mobo.

That's the whole point, 1GB isn't entirely enough. It's decent but it'll stutter on high settings.

Try going to www.crucial.com and download the ram upgrady checkery thing (I made that bit up ) cos it will tell you what kind of ram you have, what kind your mobo will take and how much it costs from crucial.
Ram is the way to go here, mate :)
