I ran BF2 just fine with all low, some medium, 1024x768, with a Radeon 9550 256MB, AMD Athlon 3200+ XP, 1.5GB mixed RAM, and SB Live! 5.1 card. I added an active HSF and OC'ed the crap out the the Radeon, though. I had it at like: core 470 and mem 225. The stock was: 250/200.

So, yeah, I had a crap card that I squeezed time out of until I got my 7800GT, now I have an 8800GTS.

To answer your question, yes, you CAN play BF2. The shortage of RAM in your system and graphics card might limit your textures and resolution, though. If you never see what it can really look like, you'll be happy with what you have.

If you look at my sig I have basically the same system you are upgrading to. You should be fine the only thing that I can see that would hold you back a bit is the ram. Upgrading to 1.5 or even 2 gigs would help a bit. I run 1024x768 at 85hrz and on all medium setting minus the dynamic lighting and shadows which you don"t need anyway. You should be good to go..

      Happy Shooting!

Yes, that pc will run bf2 with mostly low and 2 high (where it counts: geometries and view distance) settings.

Word of caution though: don't spend a lot of money on that upgrade. An entire PC based around that system isn't worth more than ~$200, and for $450, you could have some brand new stuff that would run at the same level and still let you upgrade as you got some more money.

You aren't going to be able to economically upgrade what you're buying, though.
