Help me Please!

The Problem i am having is i cant get good quality in BF2 and or fps i average about 30-75fps (vsync is off) on low with some medium and im pretty sure id be able to run at least full medium with good fps?

My comp spec is

Amd Athlon 64 x2 dual core 4200+ 2.22ghz

2gig ram (4x 512 pc3200 DDR / 2 from different manufacture dunno if that means anything)

nvidia 7900gt 256mb (dont know how to OC)

149gig hd 10gigs used

Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated



50 fps in only a like 28 person server

Yer that looks like it should easily run medium/high , maybe the 2.2ghz is slowing it down a bit , but your system looks better than mine and i can run high..

Try the EXtreme-G drivers mate, see if they help at all.
I have a 7800GTX and can run all on high if I wish (although I don't).
Sorry mate, but your system looks fine, as posted previously, all I can suggest is the drivers.

I would say it's your processor holding you back. Try overclocking a bit you may be bottlenecking. Also, and I'm not saying this is the problem just some advice, it is better to have fewer memory sticks installed and the same type and vendor than mixed and all dimms used. Two 1gb modules in dual channel will make some difference. Also, look at your power supply as well. Using all dimm slots uses more of your PSU.

Make sure you're using the proper drivers, you should be running all high. That proc isn't bottlenecking anything, so I wouldn't worry about it.

i didnt think the processor would bottleneck it but then still wasnt sure, as everyone else has said try different drivers for your graphics card

Maybe something running in the background using your resourses, try this...

MSconfig: This is a great program built into Windows XP. Most people should know about it, and how to use it, but I'll include it in here anyways.

1. Click on "Start" -> Then click on "Run" and type in "MSCONFIG" and hit "Enter"
2. Put the bullet into "Selective Startup"
3. Uncheck "Process Win.ini" "Process System.ini" "Load Startup Items". Don't worry about any other check boxes.
4. Click on the "Services" tab
5. Check the box that says "Hide all Microsoft Services"
6. Click on "Disable All"
7. Click Ok at the bottom and restart your computer. This will prevent many items from loading when windows starts.

The Services got Served: Even though we've disabled all Non Microsoft services using the MS config utility, a lot of programs install their own services under that Microsoft list. We're going to locate those services and disable them.

1. Click Start -> Click Run -> Type in Services.msc -> Click Ok

This will pull up a list of all the services on your computer. If you do not know what a service is, simply google it and it should tell you what program it belongs to. Although, when in doubt, don't disable it. Here are some additional services you can disable, Alerter, Messenger, Imapi CD-Burning COM service(wont effect the nero burning program), Telnet, Wireless Zero Configuration, Remote Registry.

Disable the Eye Candy: XP Eye candy puts a strain on your system, any strain on your system slows BF2 down, when BF2 slows down, you lose frame rates. So lets disable the Eye Candy.

1. Go to the Control Panel
2. System -> "Advanced" tab
3. Under "Performance", click "Settings"
4. Uncheck "Fade or slide menus into view" and "Fade menu items after clicking"
5. You can turn off and on any effects you want in order to find a good balance between visual effects and performance Hit Apply and OK after you're done.

Disable the Performance Checker: When you hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and you click on the performance tab, you'll see how your system is performing at any given time. Do you think this program stops when you load a game? No. Does the common gamer actually need to be able to check his performance at the drop of a hat? No. Could my hardware constantly being queried have an effect on my game? Yes. Download this file from the Microsoft website and disable your performance tab. The tab will still be there, but you will not get any data from it after performing this step. Download the file from Here
Note: Don't worry if it says that its for Win2k, it works just fine on my XP machine.
Download this file and Go to C:Program\FilesResource Kit and run the Exctrlst.exe utility. Select each line in the "Extensible performance counters" window and clear the "performance counters enabled" button below. This must be done for each counter. When it's finished, just exit the utility.

Hope it helps, i know it helped alot when i had a 6600GT
