What do i need fror better graphics

My computer I have now is crap and it takes over 5 minutes to load a map on low detail and i still get lots of lag in game. What should i do to make my game run faster and about how much would it cost.

here are my specs

Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.2GHz
Memory: 512MB RAM
Hard Drive: 40 GB---10GB free
Video Card: VisionTek XTASY 9600XT

Ram would improve the load times, a new graphics card would improve the looks

the graphics would probably be more expensive of the 2

Upgrade to atleast 1gb of RAM (preferably 2GB) and get a new graphics card.

You can defrag your hd, but that's about it. I was playing on a 9600xt when the game first came out. It will deliver playable frame rates, but you've got to turn that eyecandy way, way down (pro'ly already know that, though).

512mb is hurting you, too. You need a gig to be comfortable.

40gig harddrive is really small man.........Its not really your main problem but a new larger (like 160g or so) with a fresh operating system on it will help. When a hardrive it full, esp a small one the comp tends to run slower cause it has so much crap on it. A new Harddrive is really cheap, esp if you have an IDE not a SATA which you most likely have. You can get a decent one for like 50 bucks or so.

like they said... more ram, 2GB is just right for the game and a bigger HDD (sata if your board will take it) and read the XPTC tweak guides for WinXP and BF2.
Ideally you'd offload the whole rig to somebody you don't like and build another one. lol

Dude your probably better off going for a whole new pc , but the thing you need most there is RAM .

Also as a free step for performance upgrade.

Remove all programs you don't need. Once a hard drive reaches 70 -75 % full performace take a major nose dive.

Wipe the Temp directories if you don't know which ones use microsofts system clean up tools.

Clear down the internet temp files after each use.

Defrag the hard drive at least once a week.

Change the Virtual memory to start at the same as your memory istalled and have an upper limit of you memory x 1.5. 512Mb - 768Mb.
