Suggested settings for my friends computer?

    Pentium 4 - 3.0Ghz
    512 MB - DDR 400
    Pny Geforece 6200

He's using a 17" monitor and won't be able to get a new computer for a year or two.

I'm guessing 1024 x 768 and all low settings but I'd like to hear suggestions from anyone with experience on a similar computer.

800x600 mostly low 2 or 3 on medium. No higher than that.

I would suggest either 1024x or 800x all low but with 100% view distance. that should get him the best frame rates.

u MAY manage medium but textures lighting and shadows on LOW with no AA. But that depends how "free" the system is!

just start low and raise each setting till it becomes unplayable!

I would suggest, depending on how expandable the RAM is on the motherboard, to purchase two sticks of 512MB DDR2 RAM, or if possible money and compatibility-wise, 2 1GB sticks of DDR2 RAM. that will greatly increase performance and FPS on the current setup depending on your video settings. also, what is the memory on the video card? Also, if you know what your friends general budget would be and what he is willing to spend, I could give you some suggestions depending on the price range. I would also ask my cousins point of view on what he can get, since my cousin is a veteran PC guru.

I am able to run it on a 5500 with 1GB ram, 1.8ghz p4, all vid settings to low, view distance max, and best refresh rates on 800X600.
By the way, thats on a 64 player server in the middle of the hot spots with jets roaring overhead, choppers ripping up turf, tanks firing rounds into jeeps beside me, and most of the players in the same general area going nuts shooting everywhere. and I still get fine FPS. The graphics card was not even listed as compatible, yet this card, and many others, work exceptionally for their specs on bf2 despite being unlisted in the compatibility charts for BF2.

There's no more ram slots left, I've seen his computer (internaly) and build the one I'm on now so I have some experience myself. There was a point where he was considering helping me build him one but he only has around $500 and spends tons on airsoft guns and supplies. I'm going to be upgrading my rig (X1900XT, 2GB DDR2 667, X2 3800) in a couple years and he'll copy whatever I have.

But till then I just wanted to know what he could/should run for now.

I'll tell him to stick to low, put view distance aat 100% and bump a couple settings up if possible.
