Wide Screen Help please

Hi Everyone!,

Im new to the site. Im looking for some advice as im waiting for my DELL XPS 1710 to arrive and i wanna play Battlefied 2 on it as soon as possible. Looks awesome!. everyone here seems to know their stuff. Ive been hearing theres some problems with the game automatically "stretching" the image to fit the screen as BF2 is'nt keen on widescreen support. so im concerned about this.

can anyone give me a step by step guide on how to fix this. what files to edit, things like that. Like, how can i get my laptop to run BF2 on 1900x1200 which is the screens native res without stretching the image. Im willing to run the game on lower resolutions as long as it isnt a stretched image.

17 INCH 1900x1200 screen
nVidia geforce GO 7950GTX 512MB
2GB RAM
and some cool lights lol

A 17" monitor at that res is lot don't you think? I have a 17" LCD and i play 1280x1024 and thats big enough. But its upto you i suppose.

congrats on your XPS. I'm typing this from my XPS M170 2.0ghz, 1gig, 7800gtx. your xps should run great. I get great frame rates with this xps, it has no problem running bf2 on high quality.

as stated above create a duplicate bf2 shortcut and change the properties to:

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200

Bf2 doesnt support widescreen, so you'll need to add that command line during startup. the screen may be cropped slightly, but it wont make much of a difference. you'll probably only notice the mini-map looks more oval than round.

he should be fine, the xps' screen is 1920x1200 native, and with that laptop, it can easily run bf2 high qual.
