Do i need to put thermal paste on my processor? (intel core 2 duo e6600 2.4ghz)

And im getting an ASUS EN8800GTS/HTDP/320M GeForce 8800GTS 320MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP but is asus a good video card brand?

also, will my mobo (ASUS P5N-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI) be able to hold the graphics card i have up top, + wireless lan pci card + a pci sound card?

You have to put thermal paste on every processor. I recommend Arctic silver 5. Here is there instruction guide on applying AS5 to your processor:

It's a good brand but usually overpriced. EVGA is the best brand of Nvidia card to get due to their highly inclusive lifetime warranty and step up program.

Yes, there are two PCI slots that are pretty far from the main PCIExpress slot.

Paste is very important. If you do not put it on, you will burn out your processor. Sometimes the fan has paste already on it...but if not you need to add it

If you're in the U.S. and need thermal paste RIGHT FARCKERING NOW then you can go to most radioshacks. 5g for $10 isn't great, but it isn't too bad for buying local, either.

Oh, yeah--it is arctic silver 5.

i did not have to, mine came pre-applied but I will add more definately later

if its the Retail version of the CPU the heatsink will come pre-applied,

OEM's would need you to apply the paste & buy a HSF (heatsink fan), if you put the paste ontop of pre-applied your temps could end up being quite high.

No, there is an embedded sensor on the motherboard.

trust me mate its not going to overheat, unless you put the Heatsink on wrong lol...

You can look in the bios, on some third party software, or feel the heatsink. The heatsink should be warm, but not so hot that you can't hold your finger on it.

If it gets too hot the PC may freeze and shut off.

Arctic Silver is THE paste to use but don't spread it too thick, just a thin even coating is enough. The original heat pads might as well be made of snot and they usually go hard after a while and become insulators rather than conductors. Don't pick your nose if you get it on your fingers either, it's carsinogenic.

mine is the retail version, should i still put paste on anyways? i saw some reviews that if you wanted the pre-applied paste AND the self-applied paste, i would have to chip the pre-applied paste off the heatsink?

no, you dont need to put additional paste on and taking the pre-applied off to put some more on is a bit of a waste

mine was retail aswell and i just left the pre-applied on
