Blue Screen of DEATH!!!

Ok, I've sorted out my Internet Connection. So anybody who finds my "I want a new internet NOW" or "Big Bf2 Problems" thread, lock them or whatever.


I've been on Vista for a while, and only recently has my Computer started restarting with a half a second BsoD. I turned Auto Restart off and I gathered the Data up:


Atikmdag.Sys -0X00000050 (0X8B8BC000, 0X0000001, 0X8A63991A, 0X00000000)


Atikmdag. Sys - Add 8A63991A Base at 8A55C000 - Data Stamp 45C39A82


Since the errors start off with "Ati" I'm guessing it's to do with my Video Driver. I've tried updating it, and yes, I am on Vista. My Graphics Card is an ATI Radeon X1300 I think..

And yes, Vista is compatable with it..I think.

Any Ideas?

Best guess is to blame ATI and switch to NVIDIA.

I definatly know thats our Graphics card.

I googled the error and nothing came up..

Rename the driver by booting to Safe Mode. That'll leave you without BF2 - not like that card can handle it too well anyway.

Are you using the latest Catalyst drivers (7.2)? Try the other Vista drivers... Also try the Xtreme-G warcats...

What...Safe mode is really bad lol..How do I "rename" the driver..

Find Atikmdag.sys, right click, rename.

How...Will that much anything up?? And I already have searched for it and nothing came up. (Im not that experianced...in all this technical stuff, bare with me)

Go to c:\windows\system32\ and rename it. Hopefully it's there...

It may muck things up, but when I googled, that was the first solution.

More than likely the drivers are getting caught in an infinite loop causing the OS to crash...but then again MS vista came with DXv10 right? Your card might not be totally compatable.

Ive found the file, but i dont want to edit it because I recieved a warning error about ruining my system. If I edit c:\windows\system32\ Drivers - Atikdag.sys, and it mucks up my computer, would it be possible to rename the file and resolve any issues caused by editing.

Pleease help If this is fixed, my bf2 will be to perfection.

just wipe ur harddrive and reinstall everything and go back to xp i had vista theres so many things wrong!

If an error occurs, you can go into Safe Mode which won't attempt to load that driver, or you can use the Vista CD to fix it up.
