    Re: New motherboard

I would suggest to get a Core 2 Duo and Asus P5N-E 650i mobo.

Go with a Asus 680i C2duo board. The 680i is a much better chipset than the 650i. read all the reviews it is Awesome!

Moved, please remember that all hardare related questions go in the Tech Center, while all bf2 related problems go into Support.

          Re: New motherboard

Instead of the X2 get yourself a cheap E6300 and a P5B Deluxe then overclock it.

@cloaker and roucious. The 680i is only good if you plan to go SLI which is a waste unless you got an 8800 series card; I have one and I won't even go SLI.

The 965 chipset on the P5B D will get your better performance and overclockability than the 650i and 680i chipsets will. If you do get that combo, visit an overclocking site and get some help with it if you don't know how.

However...if you are set on buying what you listed in your post then it will do you fine even though what I suggested will be a significant difference for only a tiny bit more cash.

Whatever you decide to do, good luck.

I dont understand why threads like this turn into everyone saying "get an intel!!!" when the kid is asking what mobo would go good with what he already has... for the love of baby jesus

He's looking for a new mobo and cpu, so the answers are correct.

@the op: Get a gigabyte ds3 and a e6300. It will pretty much blow away the x2, especially if you oc it.

if i were you i would get the EVGA 590 SLI SKT AM2 and a 4200+X2, the boards great for overclocking and has SLI potential for the future

thanks for backing me up metalgear but i am 22 years old lol not a kid, but yea i have a stock gateway board and i want to kinda build my own computer slowly but keep my case. Since police academy starts in a few months my money is tight so it may take me a while to finally get everything i want to build my own computer. I am slowly working on the ram and GPU but its hard to find them without spending 400 bucks lol, diapers and food come before that lol. I am also trying to get rid of my 7300 GS PCIe and my old Radeon 9250, if i can dump those then i can at least upgrade my GPU. Any suggestions? EBAY didnt work lol

well 1 gig plays BF2 fine on med-high, and for your GPU you should get my card, the 7900 GS thats only $175 right there and your done. There is no reason to upgrade your CPU since its fairly powerful as it is :) just get a GPU, BF2 is a graphicly intense game not a CPU intense game

I have a 7300 GS and was told not to buy GS becuase they are like a knock off of a GT not as powerful. Right now i can get a 7900 GS for like 135 but was told many times not to buy a 7900 GS lol HELP!!!

okay lol the 7900 GS is nothing like your 7300, your 7300 is like a 5200 FX, the 7900 GS is like the 7800 GT in comparision, i run the game at 50-100+ fps, get the XFX 7900 GS extreme edition, it is an awesome card for BF2

lmao i know that lol i wasnt comparing my §hy card to yours i was just saying people told me the GS models are not as good as the GT but if that 7900 runs like or as well as the 7800 GT then why not buy it lol. My dad has a 7800 GTX and i love that card lol runs BF2 awesome.
