yesterday i was gonna install alittle bigger supply that my dad had but it was alittle bigger then my case so i went ahead and put in my antec 350 back in, keep in mind i never hooked up my dads supply. When i hooked everything up and turned on my computer the CMOS was making long beeps and nothing happend. My amber light was on but flashing. So i made sure everything was plugged in and took out and secured my ram. After messing with my ram it fired up. Now when i click start shut down it fires up great but if i hold the button in to shutdown in case of a lock up it does that cmos crap again. Anyone know what it could be? because on using it as i post this, but i had to pop my ram out and put it back in.

You can try finding out what the beeps mean. Check the website of your motherboard manufacturer for details and even possible solutions.Comment

You prob do not need a new board....the chances of shorting something out even when you aren't grounded are extremely unlikely!!
I'm a little confused with your problem. From what I understand, sometimes your computer will not boot up and the cmos make a long beep or a few beeps. And after you mess around with the ram, it boots up. After it boots, does it run okay? Does it freeze? Restart? You need to give more info man!
Well if you were able to use it to post this, that means it's working. If I were you, I would go into the comp, pull ot the ram and clean the contacts and blow out any dust on the board. Then make sure all power wires are hooked up and all cards (graphics, sound, etc) and clean and in place.Comment

Listen to Camperstrike!!! Pull your battery, then move your CMOS jumper over to the next pin (well actually the jumper goes over 2 pins but you want the 2nd pin to be one that was not previously covered)....wait 30 seconds, and then place the jumper back where you found it! Now reboot!!! Should take care of that issue!! Oh don't forget to put your battery back in after you clear the CMOS!Comment

already did all that infact yesterday was the day i clean the dust out of it, yea when it fires up its great nothing is wrong but if i were to manually shut it off without going to start and shutdown then it does that CMOS crap, i have also reset the CMOS i did all that yesterday, if it messes up i mess with my ram and then it worksComment

How many sticks of RAM do you have? If you have more than one take one out and see if that works.
If you have a bad stick of RAM just try to eliminate the bad one.Comment
