    Strange Delay Problems

Ok this is just wierd. I have a 256MB AGP ATI Radeon 9800, and just to let you know, EAsy info says I pass all the requirements. The game doesn't skip or anything like that, but it does wierd things...

When I started it up for the first time I thought everything was fine. I took off running and looking around, or so I thought. It seems like when I am at the far side of a map, or for the first minute or two (hard to tell which), everything I do just keeps on doin'. Like when I press forward, it either waits for a few seconds, or after I am walking and let go of the key it keeps going for a while. Same when I turn, shoot, or anything else until I am near the middle of the map, a few minutes into the game, or I can only see a small area of the screen, such as in a turret, vehicle, sniper, etc. Very annoying as I run, crash, and everything else into walls when I am trying to stop. Any ideas?

And are you sure you don't have anything running in the background which could interfere with BF2?

Tonic: Sorry about not postin all the specs, I am actually typing everything from a laptop and running it on a completely different comp. What all do ya need, I will try to post them.

Doggie: Yeah, nothing else is running, just the normal processes.

If this helps, it seems to only do it for the first 1 - 3 minutes and not just when I am at one end of a map.

Are you playing single player or multiplayer? If it is single player, then it is probably your computer. You can try turning down the settings. Else if it is multiplayer, it could be your connection or some type of firewall that is causing lag or maybe a combination of both connection and computer.

Have you changed the priority of the bf2 proccess via task manager?

Noku-D: Yep, it's single player, and my comp's a couple years old at least, so it's probably it. I just got a newer AGP card for it, but it sure don't change the rest of the specs.

I'll try changing the priority, might help.

My other slight problem with it: Is it possible to start a lan map and just explore by yourself? Every time I try it kicks me out halfway through loading. In fact, it kicks me out about 50% of the time I load ANY map. Think the update might fix that? I havn't installed it yet.

Yeah. Try installing the latest Battlefield 2 patch and drivers for your video card, sound card, and whatever else you have not updated in a while.
