Video card time!

I'm thinking of getting a new video card, must be PCI-E x16, and well, a hell of a lot better than my 7600GT, for a maximum price of £120.

I don't care if it's ATI or nVidia.

when i remember the command to uncap the fps i can give an accurate but its 90+

hmm guess its not capped at 99.9, mine reaches 100.1 on Zatar o.O

Command is game.lockfps xxx where xxx is the maximum framerate.

If you want to stick with the Nvidia 7 series, then go all out with the 7950 GTX. It's a great card, and depending of the manufacturer, it's offered OC'ed. But for about the same price you can get a 8800 GTS which has more memory and higher internal clock speeds than anything the 7 series has to offer. Dont waste your time with the 7950 GX2. Thats just straight rediculous becuase Nvidia hasnt produced drivers that harness the full potential of a quad-SLI, and I doubt they will.

Bah, I bought the x1950.

Now how the f*ck do I switch these godforsaken utterly bloody f*cking frustratingly ****tily crappy drivers to let me see more settings than a baboon with tourettes and brain damage needs to see? F*ck you ATI, when I buy a card I expect to be able to f*cking use it, not try to figure out how to actually get it to run well.

what so you mean? do a driver clean first and then reinstall the ATI drivers, i prefer omega but i dont use ATI anymore after the 2 cards i owned lived a short life

The Vista Catalyst control panel won't let me change views. This means no more quincunx until I can get a better driver. No quincunx = lose.

Try the omega drivers, most people have better luck with them.

If you can't change views with the cat 7.2's, you probably had the same problem as me, the installer for the advanced control panel was looking for a d drive and refused to install it when it couldn't find one. I went back to the 7.1's, they might work better for you.

Are Omega drivers Vista x64 compatible? Last I checked they didn't even support XP x64.

I didn't try the omega's, I just went back to the cat 7.1's (for vista x64), and I haven't had any problems since. Hopefully the 7.3's will fix that bug.

It pissed me right off, the way it didn't even report any error apart from "package install failure", I thought it was stuck in spastic mode like the original nVidia Vista drivers.

Ah well, here comes the lovely FPS. 120 constant already with the crappy settings

How safe is a BIOS flash with one of these?

GPU. I've flashed my old card without a hitch, not too sure about this. Is there any way to change the resolution it boots up with? The boot text appears slightly blocky compared to the nVidia card, I'm guessing it's running at a different resolution (the blinking cursor when it beeps on boot is quite a bit bigger).
