intel core 2 duo extreme

Ok, running into another question. Is the intel core 2 duo extreme really NECESSARY? I mean, i dont expect my computer to be able to run like 10 games at once...lol. Does the extreme processor let you run more programs and multi-task or what's behind it. And im betting that upgrading processors like from core 2 duo to extreme will be pretty easy right?

No, its not neccesary all it unless your one of those people who just buy their stuff so they can say they get whatever FPS, Core 2 Duo works just well. But if you want to get an Extreme processor look at what you do, the X6800 is starting to become harder to find now that the QX6700 (quad-core) is out, although the X6800 is still the best, clocked wise. Although I have read reviews that show the QX6700 beating the X6800 in some benchmarks but they were really close. It comes down to is how much you want to spend really, you wont notice the difference between my system with a X6800 game wise, unless you ran a benchmarking program like 3DMark or something.

you would be just as fine with a e6700,quad cores arent going to be fully utilized for a while and most games liek crysis were run on rigs of dual core not quad.

ok i see...what do you guys think of the amd athlon x2 4600, or 5200, 5600 or 6000? duo 2 core or amd...

The x2's are good, but you can get a Core2 at a similar price. I reccomend getting a E6600, not because I have one but they are overall a good chip plus your getting a Conroe not an Allendale or whatever the hell it is.

Core 2 Duo's are funny processors because they all are about the same. As long as motherboard doesn't limit FSB, they all go about 3.5-3.6GHz. If that's not enough you need a Quad Core, but they don't OC so well and you may end up losing performance.

Multi-tasking now is completely RAM dependent. If you have the RAM, you can run CSS, FEAR, BF2, and a couple more games at once. The only thing is that you can only really play 2 games at once, and thats while waiting for one game to load.

lets put it this way if i had the dough for quadcore i would buy it lol, maybe its not necessary for now but maybe next year when games get more intense youll be sitting back with a margarita

LOL NO I DONT HAVE A CORE 2 DUO!!!!!! yet. im just checking to see that if i DO get a c2d, would it be easy to upgrade to a better processor when i need a better one.

They do, I really recommend you build your own, but if you don't want to, I've heard Puget systems is one of the best.
