The earliest I remember must be the '94 season where Volvo raced an estate car. Back then, aerodynamic performance modifications were not allowed, so no spoilers and the like.

This meant that estate cars were actually more aerodynamic, so Jan Lammers raced the Volvo 950 (i think?)

Jesus, 1994 is well out of my concious memory. But yeah, the volvo's were surprisingly successful.

I must have been about 6-7 and just moved back from Germany. Used to watch the German Touring Cars out there.

His early days made me lol. Swear he was off the track more than he was on it!

He was, but his epic comebacks were all memorable. Daredevil driving style, but with skill.
