Do you have mouse acceleration on or off?

I always turn it off as soon as I get a new computer.

Off both in Windows and ingame, I even use launch options to use desktop mouse settings and turn off joystick aiming. Makes it better, but I don't think my computer likes the HL1 engine. :)

what kind of mouse do you have? (you probably would) What frequency are your USB ports running at? (I assume mouse is USB)

otherwise keep window setting on default tbh

I always do a mouse regedit, even on Vista, for the XP mouse accel fix, I'll even do it on Win7 because I just prefer how good the mouse feels after doing it

on Vista I force my mouse to run at 500mhz as well, so smooth and precise

Never thought of doing this. I like this idea...

You should be able to set it to 1000hz if you have a Logitech mouse.

Not any mouse. My MX518 can be set to 500Mhz.

                    Ah, maybe it's G5+.

I used to have an MX518 (well, my brother has it now) so I couldn't remember. I know my G5 will happily use a 1000mhz polling rate (which can be set in Logitech Setpoint). Not sure if it makes a huge difference, but meh, better on than off eh?

It makes a pretty large difference, but there are a number of other settings you have to adjust in order to get the mouse "perfect". I used a comprehensive guide to get mine adjusted to my liking, I´ll get a link here if I can find it.

                        Oh looks, it's OCN <3

I actually don't find there is too much to change. I up the polling rate, set two DPI modes (highest and lowest), change the macro buttons on the mouse and finally in BF2, set helicopter sensitivity to 100%!

Most people are content with standard settings and its fine, the guide just offers a lot of information most people wont get to and more avid gamers should know. I dont know if this guide covered it, but theres also a "how to set your sensitivity"-kind of guide floating around aswell. How high should the ingame setting be, for example.

yeh a lot of mice you can set to 1000, but not always a good idea I always loved how my G5 felt at 500 and my MX518 is even better at 500 so I don't bother changing it

also optical mice such as the mx518 are better than the G5, it's not simply about DPI

hell a lot of the best CS players for example will have really low DPI, you just need to play around until you find something comfortable, I could never have a stupidly slow mouse; I used to play UT etc so I wanted something faster, that said I don't use a stupidly fast mouse either, more of a medium setting

in CS, TF2 my sens is set to 2.5 with no acceleration, 500mhz polling and default windows sens

in Battlefield its something like 0.4 or 0.5 in game I think lol

I prefer low sensitivity as well.

Always seems accurate... but doesn't produce the same results in all games, TF2 low sensitivity is almost always a bad idea. People run around like crazy.

Having to wake up at 4AM to be ready to work at 5AM just kind craps your whole day up. It's nice getting off at like 1:30 but then again your tired and out of energy.
