I've heard people talk about the Total Paging File and how It may help run BF2 smoother if its a higher number say 1000 or so. Where do you adjust TPF and what exactly is it?? Thanks for your response, your mother would be proud.

Your paging file (also known as "virtual memory") is an area of your hard drive that windows will use to store information that it thinks is likely to be used soon, but that windows doesn't have room for in your system memory (i.e. sticks of ram). A good rule of thumb is to have a pagefile that is 1.5 times the amount of system memory, so if you have a gigabyte of ram, you should set your pagefile for 1.5gb.Originally posted by Heffe250
You don't have to do it, though. Windows XP does a fair job of managing the virtual memory that it needs. Once in a while, you can "defrag your pagefile" by disabling it, defragging your hd, and then reenabling it so that it is all one block (it will look yellow in your defrag window). This can help if you have a clogged hd and windows is having to write things to a highly fragmented pagefile as it is trying to access data and perform read/write operations because it will shorten the distance that your hd has to go to "look" for that data.
