    Battlefield 2 wont play anymore

    hi guys

I hope some of you can help me as the battlefield series is the only games I play on-line.

For some reason BF2 and BF2 special forces wont play anymore. This seems to have happened after I have installed BF2142 which plays fine.

The game loads up then when I choose multiplayer just crashes back to the desktop. I have tried uninstalling the game and nothing happens. I have then tried to re-install the game on top of the current version (because I cant uninstall it) and it starts the setup then just crashes back to the desktop ....any ideas as am desparate !!

    cheers

Re: Battlefield 2 wont play anymore

delete the game and then delete the registry entries in reg edit.

goto start, then run, type regedit & hit OK
scrolly to hkeylocalmachine, software & look for BF2 in there once you have found it click on the key & hit delete button on k'board.

do this for current user & software too.

Now try & reinstall the game

Re: Battlefield 2 wont play anymore

      Hi

This is the weird thing, in regedit BF2 doesnt exist....BF2142 and Battlefield 1942 does....I have deleted the game from windows explorer......anymore ideas please?

hi guys found this on another site and it seems to work but will let you know....

      Follow these steps:

Delete the folder where BF2 was installed.

Delete or move the Battlefield 2 folder in My Documents, it has you keyboard and video settings etc. Best is probaly to delete to start from fresh install.

Open registy database with regedit.exe and find and delete the keys listed in BOLD below, and thus all settings they contain.

      [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2]

      [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DICE\Battlefield 2(TM)]

      [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\{04858915-9F49-4B2A-AED4-DC49A7DE6A7B}]

Then reinstall and patch with the latest version

Just to let you know that the game finished the install successfully :-)

      hopefully no more problems!
