    Computer illiterate needs help!

Sorry if this question has been asked before but when I try to play the game on my laptop this is what happens: The into screen pops up like its going into the game and then the screen goes black and then it just quits and goes back to the desktop. Obviously my computer doesnt meet the requirements and I suspect its most likely my video card but dont know so maybe someone could help me out.
    This is what i have:
    HP pavillion dv6235
Intel centrino dual core t5200 processsors
Intel Graphics media accelerator 950 with 256mb shared memory
    1024 mb of ram
    windows vista

So if you think the video card is the problem could you tell me where I could get a new one? Also, I was reading somewhere and it said that my video card is integrated. does that mean i cant replace it? Thanks

its definately your graphics ccard. its not even on the supported cards list. buy a new one at your local computer shop or order one off the internet

some laptops you can and most others you cant, your better off contacting HP and asking if its possible & where you could buy one, get it installed. If it is possible more than likely you will have to send it back to them.

for some reason though those onboard graphics can run 2142 for most people but when it comes to BF2 the game doesnt like it...

yeah I wouldn't mess with that man...BF2 is not meant for laptops. If you actually somehow change it to a better card, and try it again it will prob do the same thing again because of not enough ram or the processor you are using. I'm telling you in advance, save yourself time and money, don't do it.

I have friends that run BF2 fine on their laptops!!! Of Course they are AMD machines (>2400mhz) with 2Gb of RAM and at least a 7300 or 7600 built in graphics card. Forget BF2 on a Centrino processor!!!!

So dont say BF2 is not meant for laptops. Heck if you have $5000+ you can get an Alienware notebook with SLI 7950s in the thing!!!

As far as up grading a laptop, I agree with Maxpower....don't mess with it!! It is not worth the aggrevation or cost!!

Yeah very true!! I meant its not meant for all laptops...You need a really high-end laptop to play this game. I heard a good apple works really well!! I'm not really into laptop gaming though!:hmm:

I spent many hours trying to get my laptop to play BF2, but no luck. It was a 1.5GHz Centrino, 512mb RAM, 128mb shared integrated graphics GMA 900 laptop from HP. I loved BF2 too much I had to try everything to get it to work even though I knew my laptop couldn't handle it. I can say though, I got BF2142 to work on it. Extremely slow with about 10fps. The only thing I could do then was to get a job and buy myself a nice desktop. That was exactly what I did.

Yea you definitely dont have enough system resources to run the game. I would get an aftermarket (a non-HP upgrade) video card, and at least 2GB of system RAM. That onboard video isnt cutting it. 256MB isnt enough for BF2. The term "shared memory" means that the 256MB video memory is shared from your system RAM. Since the video is integrated on-board, take your total system RAM and subtract it by the 256MB shared memory and thats how much system RAM you really have available.
