Can't get BF2 to start.

I've read all over the place and there seems to be no solution.
So here's the story. I installed BF2, and then tried starting but the msg 'Insert correct CD, and press ok to restart' came up.

Hence I searched for a ***** patch/crack whatever its called, and placed that into the BF2 folder (the bf2.exe and CoreDLL.dll).
After that, when I click on the BF2 icon, the common problem people have arises... and that is the screen goes black as if it was going to start. Then boom- back to the desktop.

Help would be much appreciated.
Private message(PM) me would be good.

PS. I tried all of this on my laptop, I know laptops are different. So I also tried installing on my new computer with specs over the minimimum requirement.

***** patches are illegal for online use and would get you booted by PB if you got the game started and were playing online

uninstall & reinstall BF2

CD Version- Pick a mirror
DVD Version - Pick a mirror
Daemon Tools

5.0 Running the images
With DAEMON Tools installed on your machine Running or ‘Mounting’ the image take a matter of seconds.

1. If you haven’t already, make sure DAEMON tools if running. You will no this when there is an icon in your taskbar that is red and when hovering above it says DAEMON tools.
2. Right Click on this and go into Virtual CD/DVD Drive emulation. Then go down to set the number of drives. If you plan on doing this one more than one CD change it so it fits your needs.
3. Now in Virtual CD/DVD Drive emulation go to your Drive (Mine was called Drive G) and go to ‘Mount-Image’ Navigate to were you saved your mini-images and then double click on the one that shows up. There should only be one of your 2 files being shown (the one with a suffix of .mds)

Once it is mounted correctly a pop-up should appear with the contents of Disk-One. You are now done!

uninstall it, reinstall it, get daemon tools and use the mini image, you only get the 'Insert correct CD' message if its a copy of the original, so why not just use the original?

I read around and picked up the vibe that even original cds have problems starting up... so whats the use?

I got the same problem with my sandbox for both BF2 and 2142 ad yes i bought the original gams from gamestation just DL the sandbox mod which is totally legal =D just they come up black screen and then go to desktop.

Thats almost exactly what happens if your hardware does not meet the min req. You said you met them, but the list they give for PC req. is garbage. It told me I met them and the same thing happened, so i uprgaded my entire PC and it works! Usually though this is a result of your graphics card...which one do you have??
