Im just wondering what are the best sites (in the USA) for building custom PC's? I know that many sites like IBUYPOWER and stuff like that are popular, but I have no idea what their reputation is, and what their price-to-product-quality ratio is. But lets keep in mind Im not just asking about ibuypower- Id lke to see a wide range of input and opinions on many different sites. Thank you.

Re: Best PC Sites
Personally, I find that MyKitchenTable\WorkBench@Home.YAY is unparalleled in price/performance, and is hands down (err..hands-on) my favorite site for custom building computers.
Sigh. Honestly, I would NOT get an "oober" computer built by a custom shop if I was at all interested in a price/performance sweet spot. Pricey, pricey, pricey.
For absolute best price/performance in a beige box:
I would buy a close out HP computer from eCost.com, something like this:
This website is for sale! ecost.com is your first and best source for all of the information you’re looking for. From general topics to more of what you would expect to find here, ecost.com has it all. We hope you find what you are searching for!
And then slap a 7600gt in it. BF2 on med/high, up to 1280x1024, <$700 shipped. Done.
If I had a little more moolah, I'd go for a C2D, 2gb, a nice burner, and 500gigs to play with for a little over $1000:
This website is for sale! ecost.com is your first and best source for all of the information you’re looking for. From general topics to more of what you would expect to find here, ecost.com has it all. We hope you find what you are searching for!
and--again--drop in a decent video card (watch the power reqs, though). Now you're more future proof.
My opinion: if you're really concerned about price/performance, build it yourself, or scour the web for prebuilt deals and then add-on as needed.

Re: Best PC Sites
Whomper, please read the title. I did not ask for a setup, and when I said sites, I clearly said CUSTOM PC'S. and even if this was about building a low end computer, the setup you just suggested is pure junk. Learn to answer threads correctly please.
And by price/performance, I am refering to the quality of products for certain sites and their price value- in other words, I am looking for sites that dont give you stuff from other sites and overprice them to bull **** levels- like who the hell wants to buy a case thats 500 dollars because of a cheap neon lighting system?

Sorry guy! Won't bug yous' anymo'.Originally posted by Davexiii90Whomper, please read the title...even if this was about building a low end computer, the setup you just suggested is pure junk. Learn to answer threads correctly please.
Personally, I think it's very charitable and trusting of you to pay other people to slap together parts for you. Good show, and very philanthropist-minded of you!
Here's hoping you find what you're looking for (and the sheer bliss of not knowing if you don't).

Re: Best PC Sites
i like how he told you to learn how to post when you have more than 1000 posts and he has less then 30
imho buying prebuilt is pricey and not as fun lol the only prebuilt i use now is my laptop.
i know that hardocp has a consumer part that has reviews for prebuilt systems though
also that pc isnt junk im running a x2 3800 and get no problems at all high in bf2 and other games on stock speeds on a s939 board with only ddr ram. you can squeeze quire a bit out of the toledo cores with a good heatsink (ive only hit 4600 speeds on stock cooling but with a better hsf you could hit 4800 speeds or even fx60 speeds) and simply putting in a 7600 for about 100-150$ is a good deal for playing games on med to high settings

Re: Best PC Sites
NEWEGG FTW !
i don't know why anyone that knows about computers would actually buy prebuilt, if it was for something like using it as a huge dvr or something then i understand, but unless your afraid that you might damage something just build it you'll know you made the right decision in the end
EDIT* that pc mentioned above looks like a good enough one to replace all the old Sh*ty celeron (spelling?) pc's in my house
