    dvi vs vga?

    So i recently gota new monitor which came with the option of vga cord or dvi and i was wondering what is the difference?

    i always have used dvi and found that the picture is really clear

      It's simply digital signals instead of analogue signals being sent, and you should surely know the difference between those two. Think LP vs MP3 and compare.

        if you already have a DVI cable, then use the DVI. DVI is recommended when using high resolutions because of the amount of data being sent.

          ok i switched my vga cable for the dvi one but the dvi doesnt work for me?is there something else i have to do?

            usually on the monitor itself there is a input select somewhere in the options. set that to dvi. :)

                Does your vid card have a DVI port and are you use'n an DVI>VGA adapter to connect to your vid card, if so you will only get analog.

                  yeah my vid card has 2 dvi things but i used a vga connector for it.

                    Ditch the adapter, plug the DVI cable (1 /w DVI conectors at both ends) Into the DVI plug on your Vid card and the DVI plug on your monitor.
