    Rig That Will Run Crysis

Please, Only respond if you truly understand the extremeley demanding requirements for the game Crysis (Release date ETA 2008). I know that a dual core 2 ghz wont cut it; at leasat a 3.x ghz DUAL core. so, could someone come up with a system setup, preferably with prices/links to the site for order info, etc? Remember, only answer if you have heard alot about this game and/or its requirements. Im not in the mood to make a PC that is not built correctly for the game lol. Oh yeah, the pc must run the game all maxed out in graphics settings, on a 64 player server. The Budget: 3500 dollars, but id prefer 3000. I already have: Mouse, Keyboard, Monitor, Speakers, Headset, Etc. Thank you :)

Why do you think that a 2GHz system wont work? I think that the 2GHz will be adequate with a next-gen GPU.

And since its not due out for some time, I wouldn't think about buying anything now. The 8600 Ultras are due out in March. Wait a little while and
you could build a rig with 2 in SLI and have enough money for a nice chip and hard drive. Prices on LCD monitors have dropped significantly as well. Time is your friend.

These are the estimated recommended system specs as listed on http://www.crysis-online.com/forum/i...pic,141.0.html
    Recommended Requirements

    CPU: Dual-core CPU (Athlon X2/Pentium D)
Graphics: Nvidia 7600 or ATI X1600 Pro (SM 3.0) or DX10 equivalent
    RAM: 1.5GB+
    HDD: 6GB
    Internet: 512k+ (128k+ upstream)
    Optical Drive: DVD
    Software: DX9.0c with Windows XP

Hunt, please, go watch a video of "Crysis Flythrough" on youtube. Then youll understand. The game is at LEAST twice as demaniding as GR: Advanced Warfighter. And, a 2.0ghz system can barely run bf2 on medium lol..... Those recomended specs will only run the game on medium. I want the game on high :P

And an other question. Yesterday, at Best Buy, I was reading sytem requirements for Rainbow Six: Vegas, and saw MINIMUM SPECS to include : 3.0GHZ CPU. Now, the question is, Ive heard about people using 2.0ghz DUAL core cpu's and running it on max settings. So, if im right, a 2.0ghz dual core cpu is COMPLETELY different in terms of speed when you compare it with a 2.0ghz regular cpu? and will the game understand the difference and let it play the game due to it being dual rather than single core, even though it tells the system its 2 ghz? I feel stupid.

Just because a game looks good in a videa doesn't mean that it takes a super fast computer to play it on high settings. Look at the Source engine. It doesn't take much to run a game and still have the game look good.

When I first build my PC (Amd Opteron @ 2.0 Ghz, 2 gigs of OCZ RAM, and a single 7800 GT), I could run BF2 on max settings with 4x AA 16x AF with MSAA, with a 2.0 Ghz processor.

Yes, a 2.0 Ghz P4 could only run BF2 on medium settings, but not all CPUs are based on the P4. I bet a 2.0 Ghz Conroe could run Crysis on max settings, if it was paired with a high end gfx card.

I don't know. Something tells me all this DX10 stuff will give this game reason to hog computer resources, and cpu power.

Alrighty then. I was just trying to help. But if you have 3000 or so so spend for one game you should just grab a copy of maximum pc and look for a pre-made rig. The top end models go for 5000 or so but there are others in your price range.

Re: Rig That Will Run Crysis

The reason the 2GHz CPU is faster is because of the different architecture, not because it's dual core. Remember that most games still run on a single CPU, but a C2D E6300 will still beat a P4 3.4GHz and absolutely rape a P4 1.8GHz. Now if you could have both those cores running...

As for Crysis, I sincerely doubt those system requirements will make the game "playable". You might get a nice 10fps with it, they do that for every game just for the extra sales, I assume.

Look at my system specs go for something along those lines.

You have to remember, that making a game that demanding would be commercial suicide... they're target market would be so small.

I jsut think back to far cry. It was beautiful, and easy on the system at the same time. I have the same hopes for crysis.

well seeing as crysis isnt coming out for a while and its the only game that you will play just wait because by the time its out there will be better and faster things out (r600 or 8900's) :) also if your correct saying that the recomended will run crysis on med im sure i can put mine up to high

about the cpu thing: ocing isnt hard its your friend

tvzombie lets not turn this into a e-peen thread

finally on a ign interview with Cryteks CEO he said crysis would be like far cry and still run great on older hardware http://pc.ign.com/objects/694/694190.html

also why did you post in the totalbf2 forums instead of total crysis?
