In the next year or so I will deff be upgrading to much better system, but for now I am using an AGP Shuttle AV49V/VN and MUST upgrade the processor. It runs socket 478 P4 (supporting HT) and it says with 400/533 MHz FSB. I am not to fimiliar with processors and would like to know if a P4 HT 3.4gh processor would work with my system. I assumed it would because it has the same socket (478) and my mo-bo says its P4 HT compadible. The problem now is that the new P4 HT processor says it is a Prescott and runs at 800Mhz and according to my mother board manual, it will run 400/533 MHz processors. Any ideas it the new processor would work?? and Whats the difference between a Presscott and Northwood P4 processor? I've looked everywhere for help on this and nothing explains it. The Shuttle mother board website is garbage!!! Doesn't offer any support! Any advice would be great here and thank you very much!!!
-ps. My board says it supports Pentium 4's with HT with 400/533 MHz FSB but ALL the HT P4's run at 800Mhz. Seems like a contradiction.
