It is true about Intel being better than AMD at this time...but something interesting caught my eye the other day about the current AM2 platform:

You will be able to use AM2+ and AM3 CPU's in an AM2 motherboard(minus the newer CPU's new features of course).

As for Intel's current socket775, we know the Quad core they have available now does fit in the L775 mobos, but what about Intel's next set of CPU's? If they do like they have in the past and make a simple voltage change to the mobo, it means L775 can only be upgraded to what you see and know about now.

Because of this new info(new to me), I have begun reconsidering the "nothing but Intel" recommendations I have been giving lately. Yes the Intel's are better now, but what about 1.5 years from now when he wants to change the CPU?

isnt the other number on AMD cpu's the speed of intel mhz?

so if im getting a 6000 AMD it is the same as a intel that has 6000mhz but it is 2600mhz in AMD

Only with the single core AMD's can you do that. BUT that also only works when comparing it to a P4.

oooohh lol where ive ordered my AMD already and mobo to go with it but its still gonna be an amazing pc and i should be able to play the latest games for at least 3 years (well im hopefully) once i have the new 8900 when they come out

and what if say, like, there is a brand new DX10-Equipped nVidia card released later on, as a response to the new ATI card...I know the 8800gtx is the thing to buy, but what if? Would I have to completely change the hardware I will use to build the PC, since the card will be a brand new, latest-hardware demanding card?

And on youtube, I saw a traler for the newest thing people are talking about for dx10- this game called Crysis- it looks un godly real. the graphics are like, well, BF2+FEAR+PS3 times 1000. Will i be able to build sumthin that cuds handle that too, without shelling out 3000 bux?

Nice. In about 5-6 months, I plan on having enough money for it. And I guess I can get that rig a little bit cheaper in a few months too?

Well, ATI DX10 cards and the 8900 series will be out by then. Also in spring, Intel is planning to cut the Core 2 Duo prices by 30-35%.

lol maxed out? without any fps lag? doubt it. have you seen the specs? lets see: BF2+FEAR TIMES A BILLION= Medium settings for Crysis lol. And im talkin bout a full server, lets say 50-64 players. and bout the price cuts on the c2 duos: dont we wanna get a core 2 extreme for this type of gaming lol?

Also, many people were having huge doubts, stating that theyd be surprised if that crysis game could even run smoothly on an E6700... if we must, i will up my budget to 3000. Might seem a little drastic, but the reason I can afford it s because I will not be buying a car until after college, and I will be getting my first job soon, and even though im only 16, the minimum wage is now going to be 7/h. And I am very good at savng money over long periods of time, so im sure for 6-8 months i can keep my money together from work.

Crysis looks good, but it's won't be as demanding as it looks. Look at the Source engine. That game engine looked really good for it's time, (hell, it still looks good even to this day!), but you don't need tehuberroxxor hardware to run it on max settings. I bet crysis will be no different.

The main thing here is overclocking. I can take an e6700 and make it run as fast as a core 2 extreme.
