Problem...and i don't know why...

This is the second time its done this.
When i go to power on the system, it gets stuck in an endless restart cycle, you can tell by the lights on the fan flashing on and off...yet nothing appears on the screen...sometimes the fans spin constantly and youll here drives spinning up but still nothing..doesn't do anything..no bleeps..no on-sscreen stuff..no nothing...anyone else seen something similar...cause im pretty sure its the mobo now...since everything else works fine when it actually does work and othings overheated or shorted...last time it happened i spent 2 hours taking everything apart and crawling through the mass of parts looking for a cause only to put it back together and it suddenly works...and a few hours later it dies again..and won't come back....so yea...anyone else?..ideas?..please <_<

Could be anything to Dodgy ram, broken mobo or broken CPU.

It maybe you PSU as thats only 400watt and your trying to run a 7900GT on it. But this all depends on what the 12v rail is.

Try booting it with just the mobo, cpu and ram and see what happens. Then slowly add stuff and see if its stable. When it becomes unstable thats the device causing it.

Id try a new PSu first thoe!

yea i've tried that, i get the same results when i remove the 7900gt, and the drives. I think dodgy RAM would still let me see the POST or something...ill might just try another mobo a cheapo one or something and see if its that...

EDIT: Is it possible that using that PSU could have damaged the PSU somehow..cause i've read that these problems can be symptoms of a failed or failing PSU...

yep could well be.

Faulty Ram will post and work fine but when put under strain to perfrom it will fail and BSOD that you see.

I say use one stick at a time and see if it that helps. When i BSOD its that stick which is faulty. And i would get a bigger PSU just for good measure!

Hmm..tried some other DDR i got lieing around and that didn't help...


..i did some research and found that the symptoms the pc shows are exactly the same as what happens to a mobo when its caps start to fail or have already failed...i think just getting a new mobo might be a food idea, and it would rule out the mobo if it doesn't work...

take a look at your mobo and see if there is anything on your caps, if so yes your mobo needs replacing if not and they are clean id have to say its your power supply

to be fare ive had loads of mobos and to be honest, to have the caps blow is pretty rare. Id try a new PSU before you start buying new mobos!

I picked up a cheap mobo to test anyway, as it may come in handy.

I checked the caps and can't see anything, but i've read they can fail and you won't even know it.

I'm gonna pick up a new PSU too cause i do think this ones a bit weak tbh

k, so now when i switch it on, power comes on, all the fans are going etc, drives are spinning..but itd only a black screen...bah!

this has happen to me check all your cables for any wires that have come out of there housing and make sure your main plug and cable is pluged in correctly and secure

if that doesnt work try the new psu with a different main plug the outside one

can sometimes but the system will normally power off or go into a "low power mode" and warn you!
