Yay!!! another problem

Ok well, you might not of know it my internet has decided to turns its back on me again, the problem is that (the norton security users should hopefully know what i am on about) you know when there is an attempt to acess your computer you get a pop-up saying 'high risk..blablabla....block, permit...blablabla' This is what is annoying me every time one comes up i click block and check the 'alway use this action box' and then when i click ok it comes back and however many times i click ok it keeps coming up. So i went onto the norton site and did a scan and this is what it came up with...-Results-...as you can see the FTP (File Transfer Protocol) thing has a 'open' status next to it so that hackers can acess it, i am wondering how do i stealth it and will it help?

Yea dump Norton get some real security like AVG, Spybot and Ad-aware .

Windows firewall is perfect for the home user. WHile avast is so much better than AVG and norton because it works on any Windows even vista and is so easy to use. All my clients pc have Avast, Lavasoft Ad-aware and use windows firewall (but will put a free one on if they want one).

comodo offers a full suite of right-sized, fast programs. You have to register, but they are free. There were some EARLY issues where people were accusing them of installing adware, but they really weren't, and have sinced ceased to do so entirely. Their idea was that they would offer a complete, good "internet protection package" to home users, who would then try/buy/get familiar with their corporate products and SSL certificates.

They offer other full-featured products, and I whole-heartedly recommend them, having used Norton (back in the day), Trend Micro, CA, and McAfee.

Word of caution, their firewall product is a pretty robust little monster, and if you don't know what you're doing, it is possible to lock yo'sef down pretty hard.

I consider that a benefit--others might disagree.

Anyway, I don't know anything about Norton, so try checking the firewall settings. There WILL be a way to fix what you're talking about.


I didn't see anything in the stats page you sent.


Oh, and I guess I'll take the time to peddle ZoneLabs' FREE firewall. It's pretty decent, gives a lot of control over things.
