Replaced video card, still getting 15 fps

I had an nvidia 6600gt, and my problem with that was that no matter what settings i did, what drivers i used, i would always get 15 fps. I found an x850xt for a real good price on ebay, so i picked it up, but after trying it out just now i am still getting a max of 15.0 fps. I remember i asked about this awhile back and someone said it was a bug, i'm wondering if theres been a resolution to this problem yet?

Also, i forgot to mention, that the fps is only capped at 15 during internet play. It runs flawlessly offline.

Do you have any firewall software? Try disabling that or setting bf2.exe as allowed to connect to the internet.

I had a problem with McAfee before when it had bf2.exe as blocked. It actually let me connect to games and play, but it had horrible performane.

And just FYI, the in-game fps counter is actually locked at 15 for some reason, it won't go any lower, even if the actual framerate is 1 fps.

Bummer, after some research ive found out there are no drivers for my monitor, as it is just a basic plug and play one so gateway says windows shouldnt have any problems with it.

As for the firewall, I do have mcafee, but its deactivated all the time.

Uninstall your graphics driver using driver cleaner and reinstall the latest drivers, run an anti spyware like "Ewido", run a virus scan, run crapcleaner and scan your registry and tempory files, and defragment.

Then delete ENTIRE My Documents\Battlefield 2 directory, hopefully that might solve the problem, always worth a go. What processor do you have? Dual core?

Just for the heck of it, try activating McAfee and setting BF2.exe as an allowed program

Pentium 630 3.0ghz
1gb DDR2
ati x850xt

Ill try all of the suggestions in this thread and report back with my results later tonight.

Also, some people have had this problem fixed by cleaning out their computer, which i tried and didnt work also.

I would have replied earlier, but i was too busy playing BF2, above 15 fps!

I cant believe it actually works, not sure if its due to the firewall being activated or doing everything monk suggested, but it runs at a fluid 40-70 fps now. I've been trying to remedy this for close to a year, and i cant put into words how happy i am. Thanks to everyone who helped me out in this thread.

After a few days of playing, even with really high fps (80-90), my ping is in the 150+. Im on cable roadrunner and no other processes are open, not sure what to do about this.

Is your ping of 150ms an absolute minimum, or an average during the round? 150 isn't terrible, but it's sure not something to hop in a plane about, either.

If you ping/traceroute the server outside of the game, do you get an acceptable ping?

Its an average of around 150-180. Excuse the ignorance, im not sure how to ping the server outside of the game. Do you mean viewing the servers ping through a website?

Also, i got in some playing in the wee hours this morning, and my ping was 70-80, first time its been that low. Perhaps its just logging in during peak times? Kind of a bummer if the only time i can play is late at night/early morning though..

copy the IP, exit BF2, go to your browser and navigate to this website (or any like it):

http://www.just-ping.com/

that will give you the time it takes your data to bounce around. you can also do a traceroute (just google "ping a server" and look for a web-based traceroute) which will give you a little more descriptive idea of where the hang-up with your data might be.

also, as ^ said, you should make sure the servers you enter are as close to you as possible for best results. a ping/traceroute will tell you where the servers are.
