Will my Rig run battlefield 2??

ok i wanted to know what settings will i be able to have and smooth gameplay

    i have

    DFI - Ultra-D nF4 SLI
    AMD 3700+
    512mb Ram
    Geforce 7900GS :)

i have 2142 and i can run it at 800x600 with all medium and some high settings and the gameplay is smooth most of the time but 2142 requires 1.5gb ram at recommend so will i be able to reach all high settings?

    I don't see why both BF2 & BF2142 shouldn't run fine for you.
Although you'll get much much better results with 1GB or more RAM.
Can play with 512MB but it will lack performance, take quite some time to load each map, and even may have some in-game lagg to either game.

The rest of your specs. are fine though. With 1GB ram (or more) should beable to run BF2 pretty much maxed out @ around 1280x1024. Thing I noticed about BF2142, although it may be my system, is 2142 seems to have a little more up-to-date game engine and doesn't have that lagg to it, like BF2 does sometimes.

I play with an older system, yet because of my decent video card and high-end ram I can play maxed out on BF2 & BF2142.

    For now I have this...

    ThermalTake 500-watt PurePower w/ 2x 80mm fans
    5x 80mm Case fans & 1x 120mm video cooling fan
MSI Neo Platinum (NVIDIA nForce3) Motherboard
    AMD Athlon 64 - 3200 Socket 754
    1GB Corsair XMS-PRO DDR400 (2x 512MB) set @ 2-2-2-5 timings & 2.75v
    ATI Radeon X850XT Platinum Edition 256-bit 256MB AGP8X
    WD Raptor-X 150GB SATA
    LiteOn 16X DVD+RW
    Saitek Eclipse USB Keyboard
    Microsoft Laser6000 Wireless USB Mouse

The Raptor HD and the XMS Ram really help alot !!!
I had 2x 80GB SATA drives in RAID-0 for better performance, the Raptor runs circles around the RAID setup I had before.

This will hold me over til I can afford a newer AM2 socket setup w/ PCI-Ex

Also to get BF2142 to run a little better with less ram and such, you can turn everything on High, but leave Effects down and turn off Bloom, and play around with turning Lighting and/or shadows down a bit. This helps alot! Just have to play around with it. And of course, leave Anti-Aliasing off. As much as u run around with a fast paced game like this, u hardly see much difference with AA on, but turning it off helps performance quite a bit. Which is prob. set to AA 2X by default, even for my setup it turned it on.

Also since u have the minimum ram, try to exit ANY backround programs before launching any game.

You are wrong Resolution is one of the most major settings that effect fps. 1.5GB is also needed to play BF2 on high graphics without stuttering.

i downloaded the demo and put the settings to 800x600 everything on high apart from the lighting and shadows and other lighting they are set to medium AA is off and viewing distance is 90% the game runs the single player with no lag :) i couldnt try multiplayer as my router was playing up maybe my firewall i will sort it out in abit

but will i get more FPS in single player then i would in multiplayer?

Re: Will my Rig run battlefield 2??

u will get more in single player because ur not online with x amount of other players.

But you shouldn't see much distruption in fps if you play with at MAX 32 players at once on a server, anything other that on your system you may see a decrease in performance.

Your resolution is probably the single biggest factor in FPS. The numbers represent pixels rendered. 1600x1200 is a lot more pixels for a card to draw compared to 1024x768. 1600x1200 is much mo' pretty compared to 1024x768, too.

you will not run maxed out settings 1280x1024 with only 1gb of ram....well you can but dont expect fast map loading and smooth fps...if you want to max out bf2 you NEED at least 1.5, 2gb would for sure on that setup. my setup consisted of

                      x1800xt overclocked....11.5k 3dmark05
                      x2 3800 overclocked 2.5ghz prime & orthos stable
                      hitachi deskstar sata2 250gb
                      1gb G.Skill extreme ddr500 3-4-4-5 @ 250mhz
                      Epox 9npa + sli

I could run bf2 and bf2142 maxed and it was playable but stuttering would occur
randomly and maps took way to long to load. fps averaged around 30-40 which is unacceptable if ur a serious twitch gamer.

2gigs of ram is the x-factor, if you want to max out bf2

i think 1024x768 is big enough to play a online game so i dont really want any bigger so it will run smoother because 1280x1024 is kind of pointless sure it looks alil better but it affects your fps too much for an online game
