Re: BF2 and ram
Actually texture settings barely effect your FPS at all. Here is a graph indicating what settings effect your FPS the most:Originally posted by ConscriptVirusu mite be able to get away with lighting on high...textures is the one that kills the most. and u can also set terrain to medium is there isnt that much diff between high a low

In order of what affects performance most assuming your have AA off:
Dynamic shadows
Lighting
Terrain
Geometry
Effects (only in arty, explosions, and smoke)
Other settings are negligible.

Re: BF2 and ram
not to thread-jack... but... I just ordered another 1GB of ram so I'll have 2GB once I get that installed... The only two issues I have w/ BF2 right now is that I can't put everything to high or it will stutter a bit more than I can stand and that it seems like during the first 30s to 1m after a new map loads, i get MASSIVE lag and stuttering... Anyone think going from 1GB to 2GB would seriously improve these two areas? Thats what I was thinking when I ordered it...
Specs are in my sig (I just changed the RAM amount to 2GB today)

Re: BF2 and ram
oh, i only thought that textures affected fps becuz well 1) it causes a lot of stuttering, so like ur overal average fps is lower. and 2) ram does affect fps somewhat, and textures takes like one big chu
but ok..thanks for that chart but i wish it would have high video settings as well
