Suggestions For The Best Performing Joystick In Bf2?

Greetings soldiers. I have been playing BF2 for awhile now but, I have avoided flying aircraft. I have a Logitech G5 laser mouse and it is ok for chopper flight but, totally inadequate for any jet flying. I am looking for some input as to the BEST setup for a joystick for jet and chopper piloting. I did some basic research and was wanting to know about any thoughts on the CH Fighterstick, Saiteck X52, Thrust master afterburner II, Logitech Extreme 3D Pro/Force. ANY other input would be appreciated. I don't care for bells, whistles, flashing lights, ect. I just want to know what the best built setup is that will assist in the transition to becoming a successful BF2 pilot. Sorry for the long post. Any other brands or models please feel free to list in your post. BF2 rocks and I think it's time to soar the not so friendly skies. Thanks in advance for your responses to this posting.

Flight in BF2 is pretty basic.

I've heard quite a few people on the forums have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, and are very pleased with it.

Don't get anything more unless you want to get into flight sims.

Thanks for the two replies so far. I am watching a few Logitech Extreme 3D Pros on E-bay right now. I read some very positive reviews on the CH Fighterstick and would like to hear from someone who has used this stick. It is a bit costly so maybe not to many folks use it for that reason. Thanks again guys.

i had an old logitec extreme 3d pro (not expensive) and it worked alright for a while but it didnt have much range of motion and i guess just because it was old, it was impossible to fly straight and the throttle didnt work... a couple weeks ago i got the thrustmaster top gun 2 pro from amazon (30$) and its great! large range of motion, very precise. My bro's got the same one and hes very happy with it too and amazon gave it a 4.5 out of 5 where most of the other joysticks they were selling were 2s and 3s... and it was cheaper than most.

Most top pilots use Logitech Extreme Pro 3D. Its the best bang for the buck. It has all the sh!t you need, for a good price. Plus, with softer spring, you get a very comfortable stick with additional edge over the opposition. Theres sh!tload of software on the net to tweak the stick, and make up for its (few, if any) lacks.

The only reason I see you not wanting to buy the stick is if youre left handed.

If you want a stick that you can use from game to game and have limited to no issues with it, I highly suggest teh X52 pro from Saitek. I still have the X45 myself and since the dang thing won't break, I can't bring myself to replace it yet.

Every one of my friends who has either one of these has remarked on the quality and the great feel in comparrison with anything else they've owned (and usually broke or wore out).

Logitech Extreme 3D Pro is the one I use, and I highly recommend it. I basically have mapped the button (on the pad) closest to me to "change weapons".
The two on the next row are mapped to F9 and F11 (cockpit & rearview). Those are the two views I use the most.I am planning to map a button on the next row to F12 aswell.

The X-52 is really top of the line though, and unless he wants to get into other flight sims, it is just overkill.

im telling you now DONT BUY A LOGITECH E3dP. Unless you are only aiming at becoming a basic pilot, and not a precise one, dont buy it. IT never stays calibrated, ive had it for 4 years and still havnt found a solution that works permenatly. I cant say what you can buy, just dont buy this one. I've heard all logitechs have this problem. To keep mine in OK shape, not perfect which is impossible, is like taking care of a dog. I gotta calibrate it 2 times a week, clean out the ports, do some unplugging tricks and smack it a few times to get it to work properly. Hope its not too late, good luck in getting a good one though.

Anything Saitek. Spend no more than 30 bucks if you're only using it for BF2.

WOW ! Much food for thought. I can't say I have come to a conclusion about brand or model but, this input will give me something to digest for awhile and lead to a stick for me. I wish I had joined this forum long ago. I might be a fighter ace by now ! LOL. I think I will open another thread about gaming keyboards. I currently am using a Z-Board that has finally started to wear out. Some keys are dieing and I will also be in the market for a nice gaming keypad/board. Thanks to all who shared their two cents worth of input. It is much appreciated. Take the fight to the enemy. Never give up. Surrender is not an option. Over all, have fun and take the time to help out a noob like me. It makes a world of difference when someone goes out of their way and shows a genuine interest in helping out another BF2 soldier. B'By.

I have had a Saitek X45 for a year now. Use it primarily for flight sims and mech games. Works excellent in BF2. Even used it for infantry movement:p . BF2 actually has analog movement for the infantry so you can move at different speeds. I use the mouse for normal targeting and stick for movement. Actually works quite well but I am also accustomed to my flightstick because they take a bit of getting used to. Plus programmable buttons with "cough" macro ability. X45 software is easy to use as well. Pretty cheap now too.
