    help with overclocking

i have a gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI motherboard and a amd 4400x2 and the latest bios f11 it says. i cannot overclock this board worth a damn i always tried just setting the fsb to 220 never worked. so i just tried setting the clock to 9 and the fsb to 266 and i get the same error which goes.

over cpu clock right now !! cpu frequency 266 mhz. if system hang on over clocking please press delete key before next time overclock.

is thier something i am missing or what no matter what i do i gotta clear the cmos to get the damn thing to boot again.
