I currantly have an amd 2800 barton, asus a7n8x deluxe, 2 x 1 gig ram ddr 400 super talent, 9600 xt 128mb, audigy 4 sound card and a 80 gig sata hd. My psu is 6 months old ultra V series 500 watt atx power supply. I'm thinking I can reuse the power supply, also I have a good moniter, keyboard, mouse etc.. Well for your Processor im gonna recommend the Core 2 duo E6300

        For mobo this looks good

Im a real sucker for the Corsair and their XMS RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145590

The price to size ratio is great with this hdd

For the Vid card i chose this because in a couple of months the new 8600's are coming out for 150 -180$ (This is a great card right now and expect Most if not all Highs)

well with the above componets the total is 934$ with cash left for the case (case is what ever you like make sure its ATX though)

Also if you have enough cash left over id try to grab a soundblaster X-FI

          I would get a mobo like the Gigabye 965P, and a E6400 and a 7900GS

I'm assuming you don't need a new drive or case... if you do I can modify this.
            Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS (Perpendicular Recording Technology) 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM $89.99

            eVGA 640-P2-N821-AR GeForce 8800GTS 640MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card - Retail $30.00 Mail-in Rebate $399.99

            G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL4D-2GBPK - Retail $222.99

ASUS P5N-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail $139.99

            Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Conroe 1.86GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6300 - Retail $188.00
            Subtotal: $1,040.96 ($1010.96 after MIR)

This motherboard is just fine (I don't think a P5W DH is necessary), and the memory is actually better than what was previously posted. And this video card is leaps and bounds ahead of the 7600gt.

All good ideas thanks guys :). One question though would the 8800 be bottlenecked by the e6300 ?

I was kinda assuming you were going to overclock the e6300, which would prevent the bottlenecking. On air (although this may require an aftermarket cooler), the e6300 should hit 2.8ghz pretty easily with that memory, and could probably go higher.
